Board Focus

The imparting of wisdom goes beyond the assimilation of facts to the teaching of values, truth, decision making and critical thinking. Crossville Christian School is a Cumberland Plateau treasure where children are mentored as well as taught how to think, how to evaluate, how to look at communication, history, mathematics and science through what God has revealed about those items (as well as archeology, geology, and anthropology) in His Word, the Bible. The school was started in 1997 for the purpose of providing the children of Christian parents living on the Cumberland Plateau the opportunity to secure a quality Christian education. The faculty and student body represents approximately twenty different churches from multiple denominations.

The board’s focus is to provide “academic excellence integrated with sound Biblical teaching” to equip our students to reach their full potential and be everything they can be for God’s Glory. Every decision the board considers, they look through “the lens of academic excellence and sound Biblical teaching” to determine if that specific action strengthens those two ideals. If it does, the item is approved. Perhaps, currently enrolled in our school is a future president, pastor, governor, homemaker, doctor, business owner, teacher, scholar, etc.

Consistent with our goal of academic excellence, our students are tested each year to measure their academic progress. These test results compare our students to other students nationwide. Also, the test results are utilized to identify any areas where the curriculum may need to be strengthened. The 2013 test results were very encouraging as they confirmed the school’s classroom teachings and highlighted the student’s academic success.

God has richly blessed CCS. We appreciate our staff and their commitment to teaching the children and also, the parents who dedicate many hours to the school and the children who are entrusted to us. We take this responsibility very seriously. “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord…” Psalm 127: 3 (ESV) We are thankful for a challenging academic environment, low student / teacher ratio, personalized attention from teachers with four year degrees coupled with a loving and caring atmosphere that creates the ideal setting for children to learn. CCS teaches students how to think critically integrated with Godly wisdom. That is the best of both worlds!

Soli Deo Gloria (to God alone be the glory)

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge…” Proverbs 1:7 (ESV)

“You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6: 7-9 (ESV)
